Studio overview
Printable products from a description, a photo or a template — Studio returns a dimensioned, print-ready model.

Studio is the design surface built into your Workspace. Describe what you want, provide an idea or a photo, or start from a ready-made template, and Studio returns a real, print-ready 3D model you can price, photograph, and sell. No CAD skills are required.
Opening Studio
Open Studio from the Studio item in your Workspace navigation, at the route /studio. Studio is in private testing on invited accounts. If your account has not been invited, the page and the API both decline with “the Studio is in private testing and is not open yet” — nothing is charged. It is separate from any admin access.
Ways to create a design
Studio offers three creation engines. All three produce the same result: a checked, printable model in the Workbench. Choose whichever engine fits what you are making.
The three creation engines at a glance.
| Engine | Best for | You provide | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Describe it | Precise, parametric parts | A written ask (up to 2,000 characters) | Real parametric CAD, checked |
| Generate 3D | Figurines, décor, organic shapes | An idea (up to 500 characters) or a photo | A printable mesh, made print-ready |
| Templates | Quick, tweakable staples | A template plus your slider values | A design with live dials |

Describe it (the Design it card in Studio) writes real parametric CAD from your words. It drafts the model, compiles it, reviews its own renders, and revises until the design holds up. Generate 3D turns an idea or an uploaded photo into a mesh, then repairs, orients, and slices it so it prints reliably. Templates are twelve curated, parameterized starting points: name tag, round keychain, desk name plate, box with lid, phone stand, cookie cutter, cable organizer, twisted planter, monogram coaster, wall hook, cake topper, and label plate.
Authored designs have no sliders
How it works
However you start, the path from an idea to a sellable product follows the same five steps. You can stop at any point; a design that only lives in Studio is fine.
- 1
Ask
Describe what you want, generate from an idea or a photo, or pick a template. This is the only step where the three engines differ. - 2
Design
Studio builds the model. For a described design, a live feed shows each step, from planned, looked up, and compiled to measured and reviewed, and drafts appear in the 3D viewport as soon as they compile. Authored runs are thorough and can take several minutes. You can close the tab and the design still finishes. - 3
Check it in the Workbench
Orbit the model, pick a real material and color, and watch the estimated weight, print time, and make cost update live. Multi-part designs can show an assembled view and can arrive as several separate pieces to assemble. - 4
Render and photograph
Generate true-material renders from every angle, which are free, and optionally AI product photos: a five-shot marketplace pack staged around your real model. - 5
Save and sell
Save to library slices and prices the design as a real Catalog model. Make it a product then gives it a SKU. You create the listing on your own store and add that SKU to it. PrintPort never creates or pushes a listing for you.
Saving requires a finished render, a design that fits the 255 mm build volume, and a verified email — no Shippo, store, or card needed. After that, a saved design behaves like any other product — and taking it from Draft to Live needs nothing further either.
Pricing
Studio actions spend Studio credits, which are real money on your platform balance, the same balance shown on the Finance page. Credits are separate from the make cost your card pays when an order is produced. Credits pay only for the AI work of designing and photographing.
Studio credit costs. All amounts are USD.

Accounts created on or after 7 July 2026 receive a one-time $10 welcome credit the first time they open Studio. Failed actions are covered: if a design never delivers, a generation errors, or a photo fails, the credits refund automatically. A failed action shows a failed · refunded note so you can confirm it happened.
Follow-up changes cost another $0.50
